Darwin Day

A Google Doodle-esque animation inspired by Darwin Day. Darwin Day celebrates the life of Charles Darwin and his contribution to the world of science, like the phylogenetic tree. Darwin was not sure about his concept of the phylogenetic tree and often expressed this in his sketches. This Google Doodle recreates Darwin's sketching process by growing a phylogenetic tree from Darwin's famous phrase "I think" with each branch labelled after a letter in the name Google. The animation was set to the start of Frederic Chopin's Concerto No.1 in E minor Op.11 - I, Allegro, due to the fact Darwin often listened to his pianist wife as he worked, who had "two or three" lessons from Chopin.
